About our Events

Special Events

You are likely to see ATRA volunteers and supporters enjoying themselves in fundraising, public relations, educational and fun events just about any time of the year.  Some of these events are held annually and take a lot of effort and teamwork to plan.  Others are spontaneous.  Regardless of the events that bring us together, we enjoy every opportunity to see old friends and make new ones.  Below are some short descriptions of our regular annual events.

Fall Aire Frolic

This auction event was started in 2002 in Shiocton, Wisconsin.  As popular as the ATRA auction had become, it was quite a distance to travel for many of the supporters from the west side of our area.  It only took one year to outgrow this first location, so in 2003, the Fall Aire Frolic was moved to Madison, Wisconsin.  This location was also outgrown and the Fall Aire Frolic is now held at the Waukeshaw County Dog Training Club in Ixonia, Wisconsin.  In three years time, the Fall Aire Frolic attendance has increased to equal that of the Auction Extraordinaire!

The Fall Aire Frolic is normally held on the third or fourth Saturday of September.  The format is similar to that of the Auction Extraordinaire but the lineup of items have a different flavor.  2004 saw the first Sweet Treat raffle and special games for all the Airedales and humans alike. The Giving Tree made its debut in 2006.

There are several parades throughout our area that our supporters and Airedales march in to “strut their stuff”.  These are not only fun events and a chance for Airedale people to get together, but they are great for getting the word out about our organization.

Rescue booths and tables

A variety of places will let us set up a table to talk to the public and hand out literature.  While these may not be as much fun as marching in a parade, our supporters still have a good time talking about their favorite breed.

These are smaller fundraising events that several of our supporters get together to do during the Christmas season.  They usually just require manpower and the sponsoring store will give ATRA a portion of the proceeds.

Picnics and Dinners

ATRA people seldom need much of an excuse to get together, so watch the calendar for local picnics and dinners designed to do just that.
