In memory of Ronald "Ron" Auberg
Ron was born August 17, 1939 in the small north central town of Withee WI. He worked for his Dad's garage until graduation. Then he worked at Foremost Foods in Owen WI and eventually married Katbleen M. Baumann in Lake Mills WI in 1974. He worked at CREPACO in Lake Mills and he and Kathy eventually moved to Perkinstown WI in 1979. He retired from Weathershield Mfg of Medford WI in 2006 and was employed part time at County Market in Medford WI until the time of his death on June 21, 2010.
Ron enjoyed snowmobiling, pontooning, fishing, deer hunting, playing softball, ATV riding, church, watching the Packers on TV, sharing a beer with friends and taking long walks with his Airedale, Murphy III. He was a kind, generous, honest, honorable, friendly, loyal, funny and hard working man. He was a wonderful husband for 36 years, a brother, cousin, son and dear friend to so many people who were fortunate enough to have known him. He served as Chairman of the Perkinstown Community Church Board and was a member of the Kathryn Lake Association. He liked people and was always ready to help others.
He did not know that he had an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He had not been sick a day in his life. His passing was totally unexpected. His mother is still alive at age 94 and his Dad passed away at age 89. There are no noticable symptoms of this hidden "time bomb!" One moment he had a slight ache in his lower stomach, the next extreme back pain and before he could arrive at a facility that had a surgeon who could possibly repair the rupture, it was to late. If detected before they burst, a stint can be put in to strengthen the aortic wall.
The two best ways to honor Ron's memory is to have a scan done to check for abdominal aneurysms with a simple ultra sound procedure (it could save your life as abdominal aneurysms are often hereditary) and to donate to ATRA to provide help and care for the homeless Airedales that he loved. Ron is dearly missed by his wife Kathy and his beloved Airedale, Murphy III plus many other family members and friends. If one person can be saved by having a simple scan for aneurysms then he will not have died in vain.
